About Norm

Norm has always been fascinated by art, architecture, and interior spaces. For more than 25 years he has remained focused on client-centered design with a service-driven, problem-solving approach. Committed to quality and detail, he brings a thoughtful, collaborative, lighthearted spirit to every project. Measured and responsive, his guidance aims to relax and reassure clients through the dynamic, yet often overwhelming design process. You will not see a signature style in his work, but rather a warm, comfortable, relevant environment, thoughtfully imbued with the individual character of each client.

A graduate of Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, his career journey has been diverse and rewarding. After working as a senior designer and project manager for several renowned firms in Philadelphia, Lancaster, Bucks, and Berks Counties; Norm embarked on his own in 2020.

Getting Started

Norman Kohl Interiors and our trade partners take great pride in creating distinctive, timeless designs that are carefully tailored to each homeowner's needs and aesthetics. What sets us apart from other design teams is a true love for what we do, decades of experience, and our ability to bring each custom project to a successful completion. Our early involvement helps to ensure this. If you have your own contractors, we are happy to work in tandem. Design services include the following:

  • Interior architecture and space planning
  • Kitchen and bath design
  • Custom cabinetry design
  • Furniture layouts and lighting plans
  • Material selections and specifications
  • Custom window treatment design and fabrication
  • Project management/oversight
  • Procurement of all things beautiful: fine fabric, wallpaper, artwork, antiques, decorative accessories, etc.

Interior design is an intimate process; a crucial element is open and honest communication between all parties.

First, we typically chat by phone to get acquainted with each other. We will explore your service needs, personal style, budget, timeline, fee structure, etc. This is a great time to share your wish list, ask questions, and address any unique challenges that may lie ahead. An informative introduction helps to determine a good fit and assists in setting design goals that align with your way of living.

With a mutual decision to move forward, we will prepare a Letter of Agreement for your review and approval. Next, a meeting to see the space is arranged. On site, we will talk through the project in further detail, assess architectural plans (if any), exchange preliminary thoughts, gather measurements, and take photos.

With this information in hand, the design phase begins!
